Water leads to safety or peace, a feeling that we crave. My art engages water as a form of escapism from chaos. Water can mask the noise or silence it. My work materializes internal feelings through the replication of water. In my art, water is a symbol for the varieties of human feelings.
Water is constantly instructing my art practice. I begin my process with water based dyes which glide color on the paper. Through the use of mainly fluid printmaking techniques, subtle images of motion and flow appear in my work, materializing the wonders of water. Combining prints, drawings, chine colle, thread and beads, my art reflects the numerous attributes of the fragile balance that water possesses.
By fabricating large scale and immersive projects, my goal is to create an experience of the senses for the audience. My work surrounds the viewer, submerging them in turbulent stillness. Through the experience my art encourages, I hope to bring the viewer equanimity and personal connection with the natural world.
